Year 5 and 6

Welcome back to a new school year after a well-deserved summer break.

"I believe I have the right to live with parents." Our class name is inspired by a young girl who decided to act when things were simply not fair. Sofia Cruz, a US citizen born of Mexican immigrants who were facing deportation, fought at the impressively young age of five years so that she may live with her parents in the country of her birth. She journeyed from Los Angeles to Washington to express her views on injustice to the Pope and President Obama amongst others. She continues to campaign for migrants rights today, delivering speeches in both English and Spanish to thousands who are in need of a just world. 

In our transition days, we have looked at Sofia's story as a source of inspiration, that young people have a voice, and that young people are all on a journey, where their experiences and choices can help them grow into inspirational individuals themselves. Our journey continues together...
