In term 5, we will continue to use all the graphemes (written letters) and phonemes (sounds) that have been taught so far in all our reading and writing opportunities. We will revisit sight words regularly as this is an important part of increased fluency in reading. So keep placing them all round the house using them as passwords on the doors or sticking them on the fridge door. We will also be moving away from using Monster Phonics colours to encourage the children to recognise the digraphs and trigraphs without their familiar colours.
At home, remember to read daily with your child to instill that love of stories and pleasure for reading. Use new words as passwords to enter a room and keep practising reading them on sight.
