In term 4, we will continue to learn new phase 5 alternative phonemes (sounds) and their corresponding graphemes (letters). We will be segmenting to spell and blending to read using our phonic knowledge. We will be increasing the number of high frequency and common exception words we can read on sight to develop the children's fluency, comprehension and confidence when reading.
At home, remember to read daily with your child to instill that love of stories and pleasure for reading. Use new words as passwords to enter a room and keep practising reading them on sight.
