Webber Class – Year 5/6

Welcome to Webber Class

Year 5 and 6

Welcome back to a new term!

We hope you had a lovely Easter and are ready to come back to school for another fun filled term. Last term, the children showed great attitude to their learning and showcase some brilliant work. We look forward for this to continue in the term ahead.

Our topic for our learning this term is: How have the earth's resources supported humans through time?

The children will use this topic as an enquiry based approach in which they will be able to explore and investigate how the coal industry has influenced the way in which we live, such as through location and how we live. We will also discuss how popular opinion and natural disaster has shaped the mining industry.

English: This term we will be reading a variety of genres in order to gain a deeper understanding of their features. We will be using our range of texts to explore a variety of written genres and applying our high-level punctuation across.

Maths: Firstly, we will be consolidating our understanding of FDP (Fractions, decimals and percentages). Pupils will then review conversion of time and measurement, before applying this to a variety of scenarios. We will investigate different quadriants and how shapes can be presented, using co-ordinates.

PE, this term, will be on a Thursday and a Friday. Please make sure that your children have their PE Kits in on these days.

If you have any questions or queries, please come and talk to us.
