Reading

 

This term we are building our stamina for reading by engaging with a range of texts, both fiction and non-fiction. We will be developing our retrieval skills, looking in the text to find answers to questions and using what we know about characters and events to make predictions about what will happen next, and infer how the characters might be feeling. 

 

You can support this by asking your children what might come next in a book you are reading. Can your child explain why they have made this prediction?

 

 

In Guided Reading we will be exploring a range of fiction and non-fiction texts to develop our understanding of our local habitat and environment. We will be exploring books such as 'The River' by Pat Hegarty to develop our knowledge and understanding of vocabulary.
