Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development is split into 3 key areas:

  • Building Relationships
  • Managing Self
  • Self Regulation

This term we are focusing on the following areas:

  • Self-regulation - labelling feelings, focused attention
  • Managing self - trying something new, knowing rules
  • Building relationships -learning names, forming attachments with familiar adults

At home, you can support your child by encouraging them to identify and recognise their feelings and how we show these feelings. There are always opportunities in school for children to try something new, what can they try at home that is new? Could it be a new food? A new game? How many children's names can they remember from either Penguins or Elephants class?

We are also introducing our school learning values with a key focus on our Attentive Meerkat. We are thinking about how to show good listening and be good observers.

You can listen to our PSED book of the term called Meesha Makes Friends by Tom Percival
