In Maths this term, we will be working with numbers 0-50 as we explore our number system. We will be relating our learning to different real life contexts, using images, resources and comparisons to support our understanding. We will be learning about shapes and spotting these in the real world, as well as exploring which shapes are best for different jobs.
What could you do at home to support our learning?
- Look at numbers in real life contexts – on a clock/watch, remote control, bus numbers, door numbers, telephone numbers etc.
- Singing songs related to number and counting in 2s, 5s, 10s.
- Use vocabulary such as heavier/lighter, smaller/greater, taller/shorter whilst cooking, comparing, measuring etc.
- Look for shapes around the home or local environment - challenge your child with questions like, 'What shape is good to use for a car tyre? What shape wouldn't be a good idea for this job?'
